back to 2005,

when this TIME Article was published. I wonder if he’s still smug.

”Our intellectuals and Middle East “experts” have been telling us that Bush’s grand project to democratize the region is the fantasy of a historical illiterate. Faced with the stunning Iraqi election, they went to great lengths to attribute this inconvenient yet undeniable success to the courage of the Iraqi people.”

“India rose in the dollar billionaire rankings, though. From rank 8 in 2006 to number 4 in the Forbes list this year, but we slipped from 126 to 128 in human development.”

A typical update

December 3rd, 2007

This has been somewhat of a strange week. A lot of bad feelings in the air. Why?  Not really sure. I think that a lot of people are feeling inadequate or unwanted. I don’t really know what to do about that. It appears to me that people are afraid of expressing how much they mean to each other. I have that problem. That’s part of why I make thank you posts; it’s a cheap way of showing people that they do matter to me.

I promised to write something about everyone at teahouse, so here goes:

Jane: Thanks for coming to hang out this weekend. I always have a good time with you, and you keep me sane. You’re awesome, I’m sure you realize that already though. I love you. I’m not even going to bother writing more good stuff about you.

Thu: You’re one of the nicest, most considerate people I know. You’re also one of the hottest girls I know. I’m extremely glad to know someone as empathetic as you. Thanks for always chatting with me. Also, you are the next scion of Halo owning.

Anthony: I was so proud of you for what you did this weekend. You are a great big bro, and Kim is extremely lucky to have you. It’s been great growing with you these past few years.

Kim: You are one of the coolest people in my line. You’re so talented and smart, and you make awesome wordpress posts. I’m not surprised that tons of guys are tripping over themselves trying to get to you. You’re pretty funny even when you’re emptying your innards.

Tamara: I don’t know you very well, but you seem pretty chill and funny. I hope to get to know you better soon. If you ever need someone to talk to, give me a ring!

Perriesha: I’m glad you decided to pledge Aphio. I hope you’re having a good time! You sound like a really busy and ambitious person.

Gloria: Hmm, not sure what to say. If you’re Dinh’s little bro you’re probably pretty awesome. I don’t know. Get to know me!

Dinh: I’m glad you decided to step down. It’s a very ballsy move, and it’s everything right with proper government. The world needs more leaders like you: responsible, intelligent, and compassionate. I hope you find what you want in life, because the sooner you do the sooner the world will be a better place.

Isaac: I’m a little torn on this. I’m very defensive about my little bros, at the same time I know you’re probably a pretty good guy. I find it hard to believe that you would ever hurt people intentionally. I also hope that you find your calling in life, because you’re clearly a very capable man. I’m sorry that things haven’t been working out too well for you, but I think everything will fall in place for you.

Rita: I’m very glad that you are my little bro. It’s strange to  think that I would have never met you if I decided to really not get a little bro this term. You’re so friendly and easy to get along with; I foresee a great friendship. I hope that if you have anything you need help with that you can trust me to lend a hand.

I hope you guys realize that you are important to people in your life, and you’re all awesome people. I may sound phony when I say things like this about people I hardly know; I guess I’m confident enough about you to make those sort of statements. I don’t know what to say beyond that. You matter. And you’re awesome.
